Importing Outlook 2002 files

How can I import my 2002 Outlook files onto my new computer which has Outlook
2003? I have filed my emails into folders that I don't want to lose plus my
contact list.

Just open your Outlook 2002 .PST file in Outlook 2003 using File | Open.
You might want to copy the data from the old file to the new file that
Outlook created when it was installed, though -- the .PST file in Outlook
2003 had a Unicode format and can hold a lot more data. The only drawback
is that the new file format is not backward compatible so you wouldn't be
able to use the new file in an older version of Outlook. However, OL2003
does let you create the older file type, so you could always do that and
copy the data back to the old file type if you needed to.

You could import the original copy of your old ".PST" file into your new
Outlook. If you can still access your old hard drive, search it for
Outlook's .PST file - it will probably be named "outlook.pst" but may have a
different name. It will have the .PST extension in any case. It will be
probably be the largest .PST file with the most recent date. Copy that file
to your new computer and use the "Import and Export" option to import your
old .PST file into your new Outlook. Good luck!

You could import the original copy of your old ".PST" file into your
new Outlook.

It's bad practice to import a PST. The better choice would be to use
File>Open>Outlook Data File to open the old PST.
