Importing email from Thunderbird to Windows mail

I can't find a way to import all of my email messages and address book from
Mozilla Thunderbird to Windows mail. I am not sure of the extensions that
Thunderbird uses.

Hi Chris,

Here is a link:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Export_mail_into_Outlook_(Express)_or_Apple_Mail

There are a few methods described.

Get the ImportExport message extension for Thunderbird
http://nic-nac-project.de/~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html

Tbird:
highlight a folder
Tools - Import/Export in mbox/eml format - Export all messages in the
folder - EML format
pick a location to save the files
OK
the files will be saved in a subfolder
(do this for all the folders)

WM/WLM:
File - Import - Messages - Windows Live Mail
select the folder location you saved the files to
next
All folders
next
Finish

The messages are located in Imported Folder

All I have of the Thunderbird is old folder that was backed up on hard drive
before new motherboard was installed, so where do I look and what is the
folder that would have the emails in? The extensions for Thunderbird (mbox) I
have tried doing a search and nothing comes up. I should have never gone from
Outlook express to Thunderbird............. Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Thunderbird emails should be stored somewhere under
C:\Users\(youraccount)\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles
AFAIK, they are in mbox format, but have no extension. Look for folder
names, like Inbox, etc.

But you would need to reinstall Thunderbird in order to do an export.

To convert my Thunderbird e-mails I used the program mbx2eml from
http://home.arcor.de/luethje/prog/mbx2e_en.htm -- ít converts the format
Thunderbird uses (mbox) into separate eml files which can then simply be
"dragged" into Windows Mail. There is no need to have Thunderbird
installed to use this program. I converted approx. 2gb of e-mails with
this, worked like a charm.

The link I provided explains how to do it. You must not have read it
carefully, as there are no "mbox" extensions.
