Importing Data from Excel

I am having a problem importing contacts data from Excel. Every time I try
to import from a particular data file Outlook will only import 133 records.
Here is the history of what I have done:

1. Exported a set of data from Outlook to give me a template of the
structure of the Outlook file. Kept the headings only
2. Exported data from Palm Desktop and mobile phone and combined into the
Outlook structured excel file. Tidied up all the data.
3. Imported the data using the Outlook import facility
4. Only 133 of the 1500 contacts were imported.

Did a fair amount of investigation around this to circumvent the problem but
without success:

1. Resorted the database to ensure that one of the entries was not stopping
the import - still 133 imports
2. Imported the first 133 entries then cut these out of the excel sheet and
tried to import the next 133. No further entries were imported
3. Exported current Outlook database of 2000 reccords into Excel. When
reimported this imports with no problem, creating duplicate entries up to
total of 4000 records so not a problem of space.
4. Tried appending the Palm contacts to the excel worksheet of Outlook
contacts and then reimporting together. Imports the first 2000 Outlook
contacts then stops at the Palm contacts and does not import a single one.

I am at a loss. There does not seem to be any logic here. Has anyone any
thoughts on what is going on?

David,

When importing from Excel, I find it useful to highlight all of the cells to
be imported, then go Define these cells and give them a name. I'll send you
a doc file I use for other purposes, but it explains importing using an
Excel sheet in a little more detail.

Have you checked to make sure the named range that you're importing covers
all 1500 rows?
