Data limitation when importing contact file from excel

Hi everyone - seasons greetings!

When I import data from an excel file to a contact folder, the amount of
contacts is limited to 60, even though there are over a hundred on the excel
sheet.
How do I import the missing data.

perhaps I should add that I exported the original list from outlook to
excel, edited it and then sent it back.

Hi Diane - yes:
It imported the first 60 lines of the spreadsheet, but would not import any
more, despite further attempts to import the file.

I then changed all the first names on the spreadsheet, (leaving all the
other data intact) and asked Outlook to import again, but not replacing the
original contacts, but creating fresh items.

It created another 60 lines. (the same as the first 60, but with different
first names)

sorry Diane - I mean "no", or "I don't know"

are you refering to a range in excel?

no range is specified anywhere on the excel sheet, as far as I can see - (I
went looking for that when it went wrong)

or are you refering to a range in Outlook. If so, I don't know where to look

Best wishes
David

You can't import from an Excel spreadsheet without using a named range that
covers the items you're importing.

Thanks Brian

If I am undrstanding correctly, a named range is created in the excel sheet
when I export from Outlook.
By default, the range is called "contacts", which is the name of the single
sheet is creates.
Again by default, if there are 60 contacts in Outlook, then there are 60
lines on the excel sheet.
I can confirm that the excel properties dialogue confirms that both the
sheet and named range are called "contacts"

So how do I alter the named range in excel, after I have added additional
data, so that Outlook will accept back a bigger list than it exported?

Thanks

Reselect the new range and give it a name.

After making your changes, select a range that encompasses your new data and
give it a name in the Name Box. You can reuse "Contacts" if you wish, I
believe.
