importing contacts from excel into outlook

I want to create a distribution list of all my clients' emails from Ac
contact manager. I know how to get the contacts into excel as a tex
delimited file.

How do I import these contacts from excel into outlook so I can creat
a distribution list?

You cannot import directly into a DL. You can only import into your Contacts
Folder. Any reason you can't do that? The process is very well documented.
So few people use DL's nowadays one wonders why you think you need to.

Sorry I was wasting your time.

I don't know how to import into contacts. I try and get a error messag
about incorrect range which I don't know how to do. Or for that matte
how to map fields

You didn't point me in any direction to find out where it is "very wel
documented". I try to use help but when I try to do a search it crashes
I have done a search on this forum but no one seems to explain i
clearly

Why are so many people not using DL's? I want to create multiple list
of people to email that I would email often. How else would or should
do this if not DL's

Is there anyone out there that would be willing to help

Have you named the range in Excel?


If you are using Outlook 2003 or above, then Categories are the way to
go. Far more robust and much easier to administer than Distribution lists.

Re: Importing

Outlook File Menu -> Import / Export --> follow the screens - it's a very
simple process (additional info available by searching Outlook help for
"Import contacts")

Re: Excel "ranges"

Alternative to dealing with Excel files and "Named Ranges" - simply save the
worksheet as a CSV file and import that file instead of the Excel file
(otherwise additional info on "named ranges" can be found by searching the
Excel help file for "Define and Use Names" )

Re: Searching Help and it crashes

If you are referring to "crashing" when you are searching MS Office help -
you really need to get your MS Office configuration fixed "Office Diags" in
O'2007 or "Detect 'n Repair" in earlier versions. (You should always state
which version of Outlook you are referring to when posting a question.)
