Importing AVI file

I have an AVI file of my son's graduation which will play in Media Player 9
on my old computer running ME. I cannot run it in MP9 on my new machine
running XP Home. I get the sound track but no video.

I wish to create a movie from this using WMM but cannot import it into WMM.
I get an error message advising the appropriate codec is not available.
Despite attempts to automatically download the codec WMM is unable to do so.

Can anyone tell me how I can resolve this issue.

Thanks for your message Wojo.

I went to the site and downloaded the XP Codec Pack, installed it but the
WMM problem isn't resolved.

Can you suggest / indicate the oppropriate set of codecs I should download.

I have also downloaded and installed the latest DivX but that hasn't
resolved the issue either. Any further idea would be appreciated as I am out
of them myself.

Cheers

I also am out of ideas here, the XP Codec Pack should have done the trick,
the only thing I can think of is that the codec(s) already installed are
corrupt and in need of removal.

the downloaded codec packs help you play files in your Windows Media Player,
but even if they play well there, they may not work in Movie Maker.... it's
a codec issue that needs file conversion to something else that does work.

see the Importing Source Files > Video > AVI page of my site.
