avi import error

If I try to import a captured vidoo in avi format, I get the following
message after which WMM closes "WMM has encountered a problem and needs to
close".

I can however, play the same avi file in windows media player 11. I have
previoulsy imported the same file without any issues.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Great question, but one I can't answer specifically. The answer is yes, I
probably did, I just can't remember. For a while back (3 - 6 mos) I battled
the green screen of death that seems to be common with the NVIDIA GEForce
FX5200. I do believe that with this issue however, I really changed very
little, typically if I make a change and it has no impacct, I revert back to
the pre change settings.

I spent quite a bit of time researching the green screen issue with the 5200
and it appears to be quite common. In my case green strips would paint the
display area of the video in a diagonal travel. I found some info that said
if you turn off the direct draw & 3d acc. in directx it would fix and it did.
However, knock on wood, all is now good with 3d on.
