Imported Contacts do not appear in OL2007 Address book despite following instructions in KB 287563

I have followed the instructions in KB 287563 re Checking "Show this folder
as an e-mail address book" for my (now multiple) contact folders, and they
do indeed appear in the list of Contact Folders that can used for the
address book. i.e. their names appear in the list of possible address books

Trouble is whichever contact folder I then select, the address book still
only shows the same old addresses originally typed in the original address
book - and not any of the contacts in any of the specified contact folders.

I'm using OL 2007 SP1 from Office Enterprise. Everything is local (no
Exchange -just POP3 accounts from ISPs). Is this a bug or is there
something else I need to do to get it to work?

(BTW I've also created a new profile as recommended on some blogs - and the
behaviour is exactly the same.)

Many Thanks for help.

Aha - fixed my own problem:

I had assumed that by exporting to Access and then importing from Access
that all fields would map exactly onto eachother but they don't. The Email
Addresses are left out!

When importing you need to click Map Custom Fields then scroll down to
E-mail in the "To" list and drag over EmailAddress from the "From" list and
drop it in the Mappedfrom column. Once imported, these contacts With email
addresses did indeed show up in my address book.

Am I correct in assuming that you have exported and imported to and from
Access purely to transfer Contacts from one instance of Outlook to another?
If that is correct, then you were the architect of your own problems! There
is NO NEED to import/export anything in moving Outlook data from one outlook
to another - just copy the pst file.
