I am using Windows vista and trying to import a 2 min video but when I import
into movie maker I only get 1 min imported. I can play the full 2 min fine
in media player. Ihve downloaded a file checker to see if I have th ecorrect
codec and it says I do. Not sure what next to try, can someone suggest
something else?
thanks

I had what seems like a similar problem, i.e. Movie Maker reporting
screwball durations. I was importing .vob files, which are a form of mpeg,
and WMM does not handle such files correctly. I found I needed to convert
my .vob files to .wmv before import. I use Windows Media Encoder to do this
and now have no problem.

John is correct in that if the file type is not compatible with MM you need
to convert it to wmv to use it.

Yep Awesome, I converted the video from '.vob' to '.mwv' and presto it
works!!!! I had a problem with installing windows media encoder...still
can't figure out why it keeps crashing, so I used a trialware called AOA
ripper gives me up to 10 min which is Ok because I wanted to makesure this
fixes the problem and it did!

Thanks guys.
