import outlookexpress -> windows mail

Okay, here's the problem.

On my old computer I was running Outlook Express under windows XP. I had my
mail store nicely backed up in case of a crash.

Well, my computer went bust, and I've replaced it. Only now I find that OE
no longer exists and has been replaced by Windows Mail.

So, how do I import stuff from my backup files?

I've managed to import messages, but I can't get accounts, message rules,
etc to import. What do I do? Please help.

Not sure how much more you can import if you can't get the old computer
to prepare it. You might try to import the contacts in the .wab file,
though.

Peter Morris,
Account and rule information were stored in the registry in your old PC.
Unless you made a backup of these registry entries, there is nothing that
could be imported. So you will need to manually recreate them.

Remember Windows Mail does not allow separate email identities, as OE did.
If you want separate email identities on a single PC, you will need to
create separate USER accts for that PC.

I had a neighbor that migrated from XP to Vista -
Same problem, no more OE, now called Mail.
Their BIG problem was that a large number of messages had attachments,
and there was no easy way of migrating the email and attachments
from the old computer to the new computer.
