Andy

I am trying to improt a colleagues files from outlook
express. I have the inbox.dbx, outbox.dbx etc files
available but Outlook and Outlook express do not recognise
the files and wilol not allow me to import.

I have reasonably new versions of both products (Express
being maintained automatically).

Does anyone have any clues?

Thanks

Andy

You must also have the file called folders.dbx otherwise both OE and Outlook
will not recognise the files as a message store.

Have a look here:

Backup and Restore OE
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/backup/index.htm

Also note:
This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003 from the Office suite of products. Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number. Good luck!

Dbx-files are from Outlook Express. Outlook can't import these directly you
must first configure them with Outlook Express. Once you've got them
configured in OE choose File-> Export from within OE to get them into
Outlook.

For more assistance ask in an Outlook Express forum. This is an Microsoft
Office Outlook forum.

Outlook Express is family of Internet Explorer and Outlook of the Office
family.

Here is the link for the right forum

Good Luck!
