Import errors from Excel

Office 2003 - attempting to import a text file or a xls file, and getting an
import error on a date field that I formatted as a number in both excel and
access. The date format is yyyymmddhhmmss. If I format it as text in excel,
it displays at 2.0070319144739E+15, and also imports it the same way.TIA.

Thank you. I have tried some of your suggestions already with no luck. I
will try the remaining and let you know.

Thank you, Ken. Placing a dummy row of data in the first row did the trick.
It was getting very frustrating, and I greatly appreciate the help.
