import emails outook 2003

I got a new computer and I am using Outlook 2003 now. I would like to import
all my old emails (outlook express older versions) which are saved in CDs and
zip drives to my new outook 2003. I have old emails from outlook express
dated to 1997 untill now and I miss having access to my old contacts and
important emails.
I heard that I would need all the older versions of outlook in order to
import/export gradually from one version to the following version untill
2003. Is that the only way??? It seams too much work and I don't have all
those versions.
Is there any software or way to migrate all these old emails to the outlook
2003?
Please I need help.

I would think you could use the latest version of OE; it can import email
and addresses from earlier versions of Outlook Express and Internet Mail &
News and can then be used with Outlook 2003 to move everything over. Note
that both Outlook Express and outlook 2003 must be installed and functional
on the same machine for the transfer process to work. I would also suggest
exporting to Outlook from Outlook Express rather than using Outlook 2003 to
Import. OE seems to do a better job maintaining date and time stamps

Thank you very much Hal.
What is OE? Is it a version of Outlook or a different software? How can I
get it?

OE = Outlook Express, included with Internet Explorer.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
