Import Data Menus disabled

I'm interested in creating some web queries, but when I
go to Data | Import External Data menu, all menu items
are disabled.

I tried to add features to Office Small Biz XP and
installed all suggested Office Updates, but still
nothing. Any ideas?

embarrassed to be answering my own question. For some
reason, excel was opening a new workbook with all three
sheets selected. When I made sure only one sheet was
active, the menus became active...
