IME stops working in Internet explorer but still works in Word

I have a user that needs to be able to type Japanese in Word and in IE for
searches. Every now and again, about twice or threee times a month, IME stops
working in IE. She can still type in Word and characters display in IE but
when she attempts to type it is in english even though the language bar says
Japanese and the settings are correct. Can anyone shed light on this? The
solution I have is tiring. Uninstall and then reinstall IME seems to work for
a little while.

Tell Her to click on View Menu bar and select Encoding then make sure the
Autoselect is checked and the Japanese Language checked for her to be able o
type in IE window.
