IMAPI services

I disabled IMAPI services right after installing XP because of Roxio ecdc
ver 5 incompatibility. Now I want the service back. I found Microsoft
article 316529 and got the CD drive recognized by explorer and the
"Recording tab" appears in the drive properties.
Still, Windows Media Player shows "no detected devices" in the "copy to cd
or device" pane. It can play from the drive. How can I get WMP to see the
drive as writeable?

Make sure the underlying service is not disabled. Go to Control Panel -
Admin Tools - Services, look for and d-click on IMAPI CD Burning, make
sure Startup type is on Automatic and Apply. You may have to reboot so
it is up and running before device initialisation completes
