In my old ME system, while browsing through a folder, the program would show
a thumbnail of an image when I clicked on it. That does not happen in XP.
The only way I have found to view a thumbnail is to display the entire
folder in Thumbnail view . . . that's not what I want to do. I only want to
see the thumbnail of the image I clicked.

Is there some way to turn this feature on, or is it not available in XP?

Try this for picture files.

Click Start | Click Run | Type or paste: regsvr32 shimgvw.dll | Click
OK |

You should see a message telling if it registered or not.

shimgvw.dll is the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

For video files...

Type or paste the following line into the Start | Run box and click OK...

regsvr32 shmedia.dll

You should see a message telling if it registered or not.

Shmedia.dll is the Media File Property Extractor Shell Extension and it
needs to be reregistered in the registry.

On typing "Customize a folder" into the Help and Support centre I get a
topic which describes how to select a template for a folder. Some
experimenting on your part might get you what you want, I do not want the
web view for myself.
HTH,
ern.

My problem was that I was browsing with the "Folder" option open. This
covered up the "Task" options on the left side of the screen. When I closed
the "Folders" the Thumbnails are displayed in the "Details" Section at the
bottom of Task Column on the left side of the screen.

I have sooooo much to learn. ;o)
