Image, slide show not loading correctly -- please help

Hi,

I'm having a few difficulties with frontpage that I can't seem to
solve. Does anyone have any advice on how to solve these two issues?

Issue #1: Image not loading correctly

I have a .jpg that is at the top of every page of the website, and
when I first designed the page, I didn't have any problems with it.
However, I've had to update the .jpg for various reasons, and now,
when I tried to change the file to the new image, it won't load. I've
double-checked the properties for the old file to make sure I hadn't
changed anything but the file name. I've tried changing the file name
to see if that was causing an error, and still nothing.

Here is the current webpage with the old image loading just fine:
http://www.susanthorseninteriors.com/

Here is the draft of the updated webpage with the photo that won't
load: http://www.susanthorseninteriors.com/index2.htm

Issue #2: Slide show not loading correctly

I used Frontpage to set up a slide show of samples of our work. Like
the new .jpg above, it displays correctly in FrontPage, but when I
upload it and test it in a browser, the width settings on the page,
table, slide show object, etc. don't seem to be kicking in and the
table begins huge -- maybe 4000 pixels? Not usable. I've hard-coded
a specific width into each table, table row, table data, etc. and that
hasn't fixed it yet. I've tried remaking the slideshow in FrontPage a
few times, too, and still nothing. Any advice?

Here's the URL: http://www.susanthorseninteriors.com/gallery2.htm

Thank you!

Holly

# 1..did you import your new image into FP *first* before you placed it in
your design?

# 2..photogallery slide show is pretty much IE only (and PC not Mac) in
other browsers...hmmmm well maybe it will work but more often the preview
goes off into lalaland.

Take a look at JAlbum (freebie) for slide show galleries.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried importing the file and replacing
the image, but it didn't seem to solve the problem. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Holly

I can't find index2.htm actually in your website...did you remove the page?

FF says it's 0 x 0 with errors.

What's weird is if you import the entire web to edit locally...there is no
index2.htm contained in the website. If you edit the page through IE/FP the
image does display but it's not very good quality and looks a little
distorted.

| The image is broken.
| Internet explorer reports its dimensions as 28x30 pixels.
| FireFox reports an error:
|
| The image "http://www.susanthorseinteriors.com/photo_bar_sm.jpg" cannot
| be displayed because it contains errors
|
|
| Was the image saved in RGB or CMYK format? RGB is required for the web.

index2.htm may be an unlinked file - unlinked files will not be imported
which is one reason why importing an entire web site is not always
successful.

In Expression Web, the text on the image is not as sharp as it could be,
but the individual thumbnails are not bad (perhaps a little dark).
Editing the image in Paint Shop Pro (open image, then save as .jpg with
25% compression) makes no difference to appearance (to my eyes) - except
it shows in all browsers.

ah but of course..forgot about that.

They lettering in the image in question really looked funky, so I was trying
to get to the real image file to check it in PS, but couldn't.

Ah ok I got it coming now...by specifying starting at index2.htm.

Yep that's it...it was create in CMYK colorspace (Coated FOGRA27) and
original size is 849x191 at 150dpi...no wonder it looks googy at the
specified size of 837 x 191 etc.

****
OP: you need to redo the image as .jpg in RGB at 72 or 96, resave it,
reimport it, republish - also best if you resize it to the size you need
for the web and not resize it in FP.
