Within Windows Explorer, if you select a file, right click, select
properties, the properties window will have a tab named Summary. In this tab
you can enter metadata for the file. eg a title, author name, description,
keyword and the such.

I've been doing some tests. Adding summary data to a JPG appears to work,
but if I try doing it to a TIF file, I get a message that the file is read
only or currently in use. Summary data can NOT be added to the Tiff file.

Anyone know which raster image formats work with the Windows Explorer
Summary tab?

I had no problems adding a comment to a TIF file on my computer.
.... but adding 12 bytes to the comment field changed a 35 KByte TIF
file into a 135 KByte TIF file.
