Help!! I helped a friend load Microsoft Money 2000 on his
computer that is running Windows XP. He had tried earlier
but the program didn't work. I upgraded his W XP with a
service pack and then the trouble started. The computer
keeps trying to install Microsoft Money 2002 (not 2000)
and no matter what I do, the installation screen doesn't
go away. I try removing the program, wiping out the
folders, using task manager to stop the phantom
intallation and even turning off the computer. Nothing
works. How do I get out of this loop?

Hi Gary,

Check to see if the program is listed under either of these keys, especially
run once. At times during an install, they remain there and shouldn't.
Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
