I'm missing the explorer lower information bar and other items.

Well, I'm answering only some of my own dumb questions. I remember now the
bcc only turns up when you elect to use it. The other point of spell
checking is of course due to the fact I have not yet reinstalled Microsoft
Office. But, yes, I'm still missing that little bit of information at the
bottom of the explorer window. Thanks for any help beyond what I have given
myself. Including a kick in the head for not thinking. Guess I tired from
the all nighter last night.

Open Windows Explorer. Enable the status bar (View> Status Bar). If you
want that bar present all of the time in Explorer, leave this window open
on the desktop and open Folder Options to the View page. Click the "Apply
to All Folders" button. Click OK.
