I'm Locked Out!

Angel DuPree

My mother purchased my computer from some one else she
knew, and it was fine. I had administrator privileges and
everything, but I let someone use my computer and they
were trying to create themselves a password and username,
and they locked me out of my admisitrator spot. I tried to
find out the password to the administrator log on because
I was not the one who created it, but no one knows it
because it has been set on administrator for so long. I
asked around and some one told me there was a disk that I
can obtain from Microsoft to restart the whole software
system. Is this true? If so, how can I get one?

Angel;
If you do not already have a password reset disk, it is to late to
make it.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;321305
Or
Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password blank.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.
If you are using Windows XP Pro and have encrypted data, you may
permanently lose access to the encrypted data.

Here are other options:

Another option is to install Windows XP on another partition and take
Ownership of your data.
You could also perform another installation on the same partition,
although this is not a permanent fix and it is recommended to perform
a Clean Installation after retrieving your data.

After this is resolved, take precautions to not lose the password.
