hi there
i'm stressed to the max big time.

please help.

my external hdd has been acting up and so i thought just in case it died
i'll back everything up onto my cdrive as there is enough room. i started it
last night and went to bed. this morning the computer would not respond to
anything i did at all
so i turned it off. when restarted it gives me a blue screen with unbootable
disc error and try restarting in safe mode
i tried safe mode twice and "last good known configuration" once
nothing just that blue error screen.

am i screwed ?
have i lost everything ?
please god don't say i have
what do i do, as it is right now i can't use the computer for anything

michael.

A couple of ways to go from here...

1) You could open your computer, remove the drive, and connect it as
a 2nd drive on another operational machine and try to access files
that way.

2) You can boot your computer from the CD drive using a BartPE CD or
Knoppix CD (both freeware). Then use the network to back up any
files you can still access. The Knoppix disk comes ready to burn;
the BartPE disk you create from your Windows XP install disk.
