I'm a newbie...pls help

Nicky

I'm new to Wireless LAN and I would really appreciate your help.

I've a desktop PC and a notebook PC at home. The desktop PC has an ADSL
Broadband modem connected to the Internet. I was thinking of connecting and
sharing Internet and printer functions using the desktop as the server and
the notebook as the client.

Can I just install 2 USB Wireless Adapters (e.g. installing 2 Linksys
WUSB54Gs) to the PCs and use the notebook PC to gain access to the Internet
and printing via wireless through the desktop PC? Or do I have to use a
Acess Point / Router on the desktop to do it?

Thanks in advance!

Nicky: Looking at what you've written I would suggest the following: you
need to connect your ADSL modem to a wireless router ( I use a SMC
Barricade) from there connect your router to your computer with the supplied
cable ( either USB or Cat5 connected to an Ethernet card) you can now
connect via a wireless card ( again I use a SMC laptop card). If you connect
the way you've written you would A) not connect to the internet the WUSB54G
is for receiving only and unless your laptop is stationary you would have to
carry the WUSB54G around the house/office with you.
Try using these items a WRT54G or a WAP54G wireless router connected to
your server and a WPC54G wireless card for your laptop.
I think you'll be much happier with the results.
Best of luck
