Illegal software

Because I live in Korea, my new computer had legal Windows software in
Korean, but it was replaced with an (illegal?) English version by the
computer retailer. This is apparently usual practice on the rare occasion
that they need to supply English software. Does this mean my software is
actually illegal? Do I need to fix this? It doesn't seem right.

You may wish to ask a lawyer in Korea.

Because it was replaced with an English version doesnt neccessarily make it
an illegal version.
Assuming your refering to WindowsXP, did they supply you with a winxp cd?

windows xp has taken a whole new approach to illegal software...
the cd its self doesn't matter... I am using a burnt copy of the cd BUT i
have a valid cd key which makes my installation legal. this was done to
reduce cost and remove the problem of hackers removing the security code.
each xp key Is Unique therefore if microsoft says that your key is valid then
your copy is also valid. if they say no then talk to a lawyer like the other
post says above...

Huh? How does using a burnt copy of XP prevent hackers from removing the
"security code" and what is a "security code"?

Did you buy this CD key / license ?

I would assume that sirmerlin860 burnt a copy of his 'legal' original
XP cd which is in the safe now and uses the copy to install with his
'legal' key.

Thanks for your advice - not a possibility for me here but it is good
information.
