Illegal operation when I open Internet Explorer

When I open internet explorer I recieve the message
that 'This program has performaed an illegal operation and
will be shut down. The webpage continues to load behind
the message and seems to be fully functional (can surf the
web) as long as you don't click close on the warning box.

On MIcrosofts website it claims that this could be due to
wither having SaveNow or New.net installed on my computer,
neither of which I have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
