IIS server web site list not accurate

(Running FP2002 on XP against IIS on Win2K server)

I have a problem with the list of FP sites (folders) not reflecting
the current list of available sites updated when I do File -> Open
Web. I don't know if this is an FP or IIS issue.

The basic scenario is that I start FP, create a web site or two on a
web server on the local net that is referenced as
//localserver/newsite. I work on them a while, exit out. There are no
domain names involved, just MS network naming.

Some time the next day I will start FP, do File->Open Web, go to My
Network Places, see the server listed, and double click to get to the
list of webs. The new web sites will not be shown in the list of
available sites to open. I know it's there, I can see it in a local
file share if I look at it on a "disk" basis. Also, if I open the
server itself (//localserver) at the root level, the site shows up and
I can open it from there. After that, it typically starts showing up
in the file->open web too. The client and server both usually get
rebooted between creation and when I go looking for the sites, but
that makes no difference.

I've tried pointing and poking here and there to try to get it to
refresh... the list just does not get updated.

Ideas ? Client issue? Server issue?

You should be working against IIS via http://machinename, otherwise you are working with disk-based
webs, not server-based webs.

You should be working against IIS via http://machinename, otherwise you are working with disk-based
webs, not server-based webs.

If I go through "My Network Places", see the server listed under the
MS Network Name ('server') but alongside all the other FQD names that
I have published to or opened, is that a \\server (disk based) opening
or is it an http://server based opening?

Disk-based.

Another thought though... when I do "Open Web" and dbl-click the
server, it does display the message "Accessing Web Server". When the
server has been idle for a while this is up there for a few seconds.
Seems like it is server based access.

Nest time I have the problem I will force http://server in the open
box and see if it makes any difference.
