iexplorer.exe - Application error

G

Guest

I uses Windows XP, SP2 - Prof on a laptop. I had downloaded IE7 but received
frequent error messages, so now I am back to IE6. When closing down any
website I get the following message: The instruction at "0x6600accc"
referenced memory at "0x6600accc" The memory could not be "read".
How can I get rid of this irritating message? Why is it there at all. Should
I go back to IE7? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Try running IE6 with add-ons disabled

Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced (tab) > UNCHECK "Enable
third-party browser extensions" > OK

If it works now, one of your add-ons is causing the problem. Start Internet
Explorer as normal, Tools, Manage Add-ons, Enable or Disable Add-ons.

Disable all the add-ons. Enable third-party browser extensions in Internet
Options.

Restart your browser and enable the add-ons one by one till the problem
appears and you get the culprit.

Aside from what Singapore WebDesign posted and you should do first .This can also be caused by Malware. Run a few different online scans of Anti Virus,Spybot,AdAware, Hijack This and etc.

To distinguish between a mem error or Add -On see if this error message shows different numbers at "instructions at" and "referenced memory" each time this error is shown. If it does then you have Malware
