I keep getting this annoying message:

The instruction at "0x6600accc" referenced memory at "0x6600accc". The
memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program.

What is causing this message? Help

You only receive this fault while using IE ? - If so which version of IE
are you using 6 or 7 ? A quick search with Google returned a lot of
matches for your error code. Based I that, I'd speculate that it's a add
on, something like a Toolbar or other application that hooks into IE.
If using IE-7, run the No Add-Ons shortcut for IE and see if your issue
still happens.

Well It depend on what IE? Version you have as McCarty mentioned?.

If you get Memory Cannot be read or written. As the name refer to, it is a
memory problem, some applications/programs
didn't release the memory in timely fashion causing the Error to be thrown by
the system error reporting tools.
Also it could be the work of malwares, badly written application installed
on your system including third party toolbars installed beside Internet
explorer, do you have other toolbars installed try to uninstall them, memory
gone bad or loose in their slots/dust also can cause this.
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.
How to manage Add-Ons:

2... You need to be sure your system is clean from malwares and Viruses by
scanning for them
Scan for malwares from here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D

=How to perform a clean boot procedure to prevent background programs from
interfering with a game or a program that you currently use
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796

3... You may have a bad RAM try to test your RAM by running Memtest by
downloading this tool and unzip it and make a floppy or CD/DVD and run it on
Reboot.
http://www.memtest86.com/
You may need to reposition/reset the RAM sticks in their slots.
HTH.
Let us know.

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --
http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/35905.asp

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode.
This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help
file.

Hi JMensah

For future reference if the Numbers at (The instruction at 0x6600acc and the referenced memory at 0x6600accc) is always the same with this error popping up then it is a memory problem. If the numbers change every time the error pops up then it is a Malware problem.

Follow the advice accordingly given by all who answered
