Deidra

I am running ME on a pentium3 and accidently clicked yes
to a download I shouldn't have. I removed the
dailyhoroscope program immediately and now can't get
Internet explorer 6.0 to open. I get a rundll32 error.

I have tried to uninstall ie6, reverted to earlier
version, reinstalled and no luck. I have checked my
system.ini file, tried to locate my rundll32.exe file on
my computer or on my ME disk to no avail. Now, 7 hours
later I am ready to pull my hair out and using my
roomie's computer to try and get mine back up before she
gets home.

Please help if you can, I have online final tomorrow!
Please cc response to deidrainmexico @ yahoo.com minus

not. thanks, deidra (and no, I;m not in mexico
anymore)

Are you sure your computer doesn't have the Gaobot virus?
Not being able to open IE is a symptom...

Could be this trojan or any others.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

and:

SpyBot-S&D

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.

I unchecked the 3rd party exts but it didn't do anything,
still can not open IExplorer. I have been downloading
spyware all morning and running it now. Did some
searches before hand and didn't find anything but figure
what the heck at this point. thanks so much for
replying. deidra

ok, I did everything recommended, spyware, regcleanup,
wormfinder and even installed Netscape 7.0 to see if I
could get online with that but nothing has worked. In
fact, I have the same problem with netscape as internet
explorer, they just don't open and eventually get a
message saying rundll32 error in unknown. When I press
control, alt, delete I can see rundll running. I've tried
ending that task and they still won't open.
Any one? I am pulling my hair out here. Deidra

FYI, Document Not Found at
html

I am still doing the rest of it but have to wait till
tomorrow to get more blank disks.... downloading on
roomie's computer then transferring to mine. Question,
On the spybot, it says to upon completion, download the
latest patches. I couldn't find those online and I can't
go online with my computer through spybot to upgrade.
Any suggestions? Also, spybot said it couldn't fix a
few things until it restarted. So I did that and Spybot
crashed half way through 5,000+ files. It never came up
again on the next restart. Should I completely rerun the
program again? thanks, deidra

RegMechanic found a bunch, corrected some, found more but
wouldn't correct until I go online and register/pay$
which I can't do right now.

AD-Aware wouldn't open, so I have downloaded again and
will try once I get my hands on a blank cd to burn it and
take it over to my machine. I have also downloaded
Shredder but haven't run it for same reason.

I also went manually through the startup and found a
couple of hijackers from one of the lists on thelinks you
sent me yesterday and have disabled them but it didn't
fix being able to open explorer or netscape....
