IEEE 1394 woes

I recently installed a SIIG 1394 DV CAM Kit with firewire after upgrading from ME to XP Home. After installation, I can not get the system to recognize the card nor I can I find the IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controller in the Device Manager. Possible theories...Is it possible that since this is an old card, it may not be compatible with XP? Or is the upgrade from ME to XP the problem...Or is it a bad card? Or am I doing something wrong. Rescue me please.

First thing to try is turning off the PC... and changing the PCI slot that
the IEEE1394 card goes into.

This isn't as strange as it seems... many PCs with multiple onboard devices
(graphics, audio, LAN etc etc actually have PCI slots that are not available
when the onboard devices are enabled. This may or may not be detailed in a
PC manual but is much more often detailed in the motherboard manual (if you
know which actual motherboard is installed in your PC).

The most commonly unavailable slot is the one underneath the AGP slot.
Though there may be others as well. It's a case of keeping fingers crossed!
