IEE1394 help

Steve

I am having problems installing a Innodv dv 1000LE firewire card in Windows
xp pro,
I inserted the card, rebooted the PC and then it said found IEEE 1394
hardware, then a driver box comes up asking for a driver, I let the driver
search automatically a box comes up and said "Can't install this hardware"
it comes up with this error message. "There was a problem installing this
hardware IEEE1394 controller an error occured while installing the device
"The data is invalid"
I have searched winxp pro for 1394.inf, found it and copied it to an easier
location D:\a1 then tried to install the driver manually and pointed to
D:\a1 but the same message appears.
There was no driver with the card and it states the Win xp Pro has the
driver, their website said the same.
Can anyone help, I have a digicam waiting to be plugged in:)
I have xp pro sp1 update and have downloaded all the updates, plus I have
downloaded q329256_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU supposed to fix a problem with IEEE1394
Can anyone help, please.

Regards, Steve

Go back to the store and buy a card that works.
Don't waste any more time.
It is just possible that the card is faulty.

I tried the card in a friends PC and it installed OK without asking for a
driver, I tried it again in mine using every PCI slot making sure it was
seated correctly and it still would not install and kept asking for a
driver.
I decided to reinstall Winxp pro and the card the installed perfectly
without asking for a driverI still don't know why it would not work, maybe
someone still has an idea why it would not install on what I thought was a
perfectly good stable winxp pro.
reinstalling is such a pain! :)

It is supposed to be plug and play. Seeing as you had a previous problem
with a PCI card install I would suggest either you have a problem with that
particular PCI slot on your motherboard or the motherboard drivers ane not
correctly installed or you are not an Administrator or User with Admin
rights.

Have you tried different slots?
