After I installed IE8 on my Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit computer, I had a
problem with it conflicting with my Windows Mail program and I could not
open attachments unless I saved them to the desktop first, so I had to
uninstall.
Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed yet?
Thanks

This is a known issue with IE8. There is no fix for this issue at present. You can
always revert back to IE7 which does not have this issue by uninstalling IE8
How to uninstall Internet Explorer 8:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700/

Also

<Here is a snip from Rainald Taesler>

<snip>

The problems can be reduced to JPG and TXT files (all other files types
opening fine with a workaround):
Right-click on the shortcut that you use to open Windows Mail.
Select Properties. In the field labeled 'Start in' change the entered
value to %UserProfile%. Click OK. Restart Windows Mail and try opening
attachments.

<end snip>

Thank you Peter, I did uninstall IE8 and went back to IE7 but was just
wondering if I could try IE8 again or not.
Thanks...guess I won't.

If your system was affected (like many others, not the majority though)
the problem certainly will re-appear if you re-install IE8.
If you can not live with the workaround reducing the problem to JPG and
TXT files you have to wait until MS offers a fix.
Nobody knows if ever and when this might be.
