IE7 + Add-ons + Flash Player

Hi all,
I'm having trouble getting the Flash Player to work in IE7.

1) Can someone tell me if the Flash Player is supposed to be visible in the
Add-ons section? (Its not, by the way).
2) I have downloaded the update to Flash Player ver 9. It is not in the
Add-Remove programs, but it is in the list for approved applications under
McAfee and also under Windows\system32\Macromedia\Flash.
3) Is this a problem that other people have had when trying to install the
update to ver.9?
4) How do I get it to work. I have contacted Adobe (now in it's 3rd week of
support and no joy). I have tried all the usual routes of uninstalling, clean
boot, reinstalling but nothing works, not even the bug free version from
Adobe.
5) Now I'm starting to lose patience, as this seems to be the only Player
that plays Flash movies, so whenever I go to a site that has flash on it, it
keeps asking me to install the latest version.
;-(
Can somebody help please, before I throw this machine out of the window?

McAfee is probably as much to blame as anything else that's on
your PC in causing the Flash issue. I would use/(Create) a new
user account and log into that and attempt the full Flash Player
(9.0.47.0) install or just shut down McAfee and try the install.

Three weeks - are you joking ?

Hi there,
Thanks for replying. No, I'm not joking, the support case started around the
15th Sep'07.
If I logon as new user, and install Flash Player, will it work when I login
under my usual accountname?
I tried closing down everything when installing it, but that still didn't
work.
And is it supposed to be listed under Add-ons in IE7?

After thinking about it some more, I remember dealing with this a
few times and it was Registry Permissions that was at fault.

You might still try another account. The install will be global for all
the users on the PC.

Add-on listing depends on what version IE you're using, but there
should be a listing for:
1.) Shockwave ActiveX component
2.) Shockwave Flash Object ( If you have Flash Player installed )

Have you tried the Adobe Shockwave/Flash test site >?

Very frustrating indeed!
I tried everything I could think of to get Flash Player to work on IE7. I
was never successful. I could get it to work on one user account only and
that was the only account that had limited privileges. Even though it was
installed from THE Administrator account. I finally gave up trying and went
back to IE6.

Thanks for your response, but as I was unable to find the group you are
talking about, I went with the only one I could find.

Hi and thanks for replying.
Yes, there is both the items you mention in Add-ons.
I creating a new user account, then loaded Flash to Safe Mode, and although
it loaded, and is the Approved programs under McaFee and in the Add-ons, it
still won't run.
I went to the page you suggested, but it just says I need to upgrade Flash
I'm in the process of waiting to hear my Adobe support with a new page that
they wish me to read. So, here's hoping!
