IE6XP - Minimized Windows get Maximized when clicking Internet Shortcut

If I have IE windows minimized to the taskbar, and I click an Internet URL
Shortcut to visit a new page, the shortcut opens a new IE window to load the
new page, but the minimized windows get brought back out of minimized mode
for some reason.
I then have to minimize them again, and each time I click a new shortcut,
they reappear.

This problem comes and goes.

Anyone know what I mean?
And how to fix it?

I'm using IE6 with XP SP2.

Thanks

Do not use the taskbar to swap between loading and non loading windows. Use
the minimise button on top right hand side of screen to minimise the screen,
then right click the window you want to use and maximise using the context
menu.

The problem could be that the application is using named windows
to launch in. For example, OE does this. It used to be possible
to avoid it and force a new window by pressing Shift- when clicking
on a link or at least by pressing Shift-Enter when one was tabbed to.
This is still possible in IE; so that may help your case too.

If it is reproducible try cloning the problem window (e.g., press Ctrl-N)
then closing the original. In fact, on my slow system (dial-up) I can
also do that after the fact too, e.g. I notice that a window I want is going
to be reused so I quickly press Ctrl-N on it. That simultaneously
clones the old window into a safer and less identifiable new one
but still allows the new content to load into the old one.

Thanks, but I'm looking for a way to fix the problem so it functions
normally.

Has anyone else experienced this, and been able to fix it?

No, it's *not* normal at all.

However, the issue seems to have fixed itself and it now works the way it is
supposed to.

I'm not sure what fixed it, but it went away around the time that I disabled
the "Enable third-party browser extensions" option, and then re-enabled it,
so that might have been what fixed it.
