IE6 does not restore (maximize) properly on Taskbar

When IE is minimize on the Taskbar and several other applications (i.e.
Outlook Express, Word, Excel, etc.) are already maximized on the screen, IE
will not restore when clicked. Each application window has to be minimized
to view the IE browser window. Any idea how to correct this so that IE only
needs to be clicked to restore (maximize) the browser to the window? It just
started doing this. It appears to work fine for several clicks when closing
all of the applications and reopening again. But then after the few clicks,
it will not restore until I minimize the other applications.

I have exactly the same problem with my Toshiba Satellite A85 which is
essentially brand new. When multiple taskbar windows are open, only a few of
them will allow clicking back into them - I have to do as you describe and
minimize/maximize "manually." Love to know what to do about this have looked
around but found nothing yet.

Thanks for the response Ted. You would think that one of those Microsoft
"studs" who have read our concerns... would realized that others are
experiencing the same problem... and would provide us all some direction! :)

We would if we knew. We're just volunteers and we're not omniscient.

Well, Frank, if you happen to hear of a solution - please post here - this is
a real aggravation when you've become used to the "normal" operation of the
task bar. I've used IE for years and never run into this before - and this
is on a brand new computer....maybe it will go away when I upgrade from XP
Home to XP Pro.

Thanks for being there.

This problem is probably related to the OS as well, so I'd post this issue
to the windowsxp.general newsgroup as well - at least to get more eyeballs
on the issue.

If all fails, this program may help: http://www.monkeyjob.com/MaxMonk.html

Sorry I don't have the answer.....

I believe that I have solved my own situation. One of the posters to this
thread suggested that it might be an OS issue. I am using XP Home edition,
which I know is a bit weak but that's what came with the Toshiba laptop.
Anyway the poster got me to thinking that maybe if I deleted my user profile
and then set it up again, that might "fix" the problem. (Sort of like when I
was a kid I would take the old clock apart and then put it together again to
make it work). Anyway guess what it appears to have "repaired" the problem.
I don't know what kind of OS the original user poster has but he might try
this. Be sure to save your settings and documents!

Thanks to all who helped out with this post.
