It would appear that "vanilla" IE6 installed with MS Office/Outlook (I'll
guess 2002), which *might* have been what put IC in "6.0.2600.00000IC".
If you had IE6 SP1 installed and recent updates installed, the results of
'javascript:navigator.appMinorVersion' would be something like
;SP1; Q867801 [Jul-04 IE Update]; Q823353 [Jul-04 OE Update]
Scott, this is a sticky wicket in WinME. While all Windows versions are
heavily dependent on the IE shell, WinME is even more so & quite
persnickety. Dealing with IE6 (SP1) in WinME is very complicated and I
want you to take this to the WinME newsgroup to which I'm crossposting
this reply. You'll be in very good (and more experienced, in these
waters) hands...

Hi Robear

-- That's odd, because that is simply not true. I just checked my Windows
Update Installation History. In 2004 I have downloaded and installed 9
updates (EXcluding EI6SP1, which I downloaded on three different
occasions).
In 2003 there were over 10 updates + 3 of IE6SP1. In 2002 there were well
over 10 updates with again, 3 more IE6SP1 downloads. All of the downloads
were successful, it seems that the problem lies with the installation.
-- No. WinME was installed by the manufacturer (DELL) and has not been
re-installed for any reason. IE5.5 (or maybe just 5) was the version
pre-installed in 2001 when I got the computer. Updating to version 6 went
without problems as I recall.
-- Interesting.
Thanks for following me with this. I appreciate it. I hope we can resolve
it.
:^)
health and happiness,
Scott
