When I either use hotbutton to launch browser or click on
icon it states" IE has encountered a problem and needs to
close. Sorry for the inconvenience". I then have option of
either sending an error report or not. If I send it it
goes through the error reporting and then automatically
forwardds to Microsoft Online Crash Assesment.

ANY IDEAS? I'm going to melt down. Thanks

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back

Try reinstalling IE with the inforamtion from this site
http://www.theeldergeek.com/repair_reinstall_ie_and_oe_6.ht
m If that does not help then download SlimBrowser from
Download.com It is IE based and superior to IE. Make sure
that you are offline when you install it otherwise you
will get "extras" attached to your OS. If you are still
encountering a problem then you will need to repair your
OS. If you need advice on that send me a line. Good luck.
