IE6 Won't Follow Links!!!!

I'm running XP, and up until now IE's worked fine! ha...
yeah right...this is about the fourth major problem i've
had w/ IE in the last two years, three of those times
required setting my computer(s) back to the way they were,
and having to reinstall everything. anyway, the porblem now
is IE6 (SP1) won't follow links. it'll open sites if you
type them in the address bar, but clicking on a link in a
email or even on a website does nothing. (yes, IE is my
default browser)it doesnt even try to load the page. if
someone can help, please email me. i'd rather not hafta see
only the home pages of websites for the rest of my life.

p.s. IE sucks hardcore %^%&!!!! death to internet explorer!
!! i'm switchin to opera, but i gotta get this fixed to
have ie as backup..especially since you cant even use
windowsupdate without using ie!!! well, then again, that
saves me the trouble of d/l security updates every 5
friggin minutes!!! maybe i'll just get a mac. !! DEATH TO
INTERNET EXPLORER AND ALL THINGS MICRO$OFT!!

Try this:
1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded"
message, click OK.

If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of
the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file
names below):
Shdocvw.dll
Msjava.dll
Actxprxy.dll
Oleaut32.dll
Mshtml.dll
Browseui.dll
Shell32.dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)

Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the
double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

WWW_OpenURL

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE.

If that doesn't fix it, go to Start | Run and type

regsvr32 urlmon.dll
