IE6 windows will not close

J

Joe Cottrill

This phenomenon is about 4 days old, and seems quite
strange. None of the windows I open in IE6 will close-
the 'X' simply does not work. The minimze and resize
buttons work, not the close. I run a new copy of Norton
Antivirus full time, and have done complete scans lately,
no findings. I also run Spybot regularly, nothing out of
the ordinary there.
I could use a tip on the best method to reload Explorer,
if anyone thinks that is the solution. I have my original
WP Home Edition CD.

Try running a spybot. Download Adware 6, there are
several sites you can get it from. I used the Cnet
dowloads site, can't remember the url but once downloaded,
it scanned my entire hard disc and deleted all the
suspicius files. My IE seems ok now (fingers crossed):

Someone suggested safer-networking.org to get the
software. Good luck

I am having the same problem and it began about a week
ago. The only way I can close IE is to control/alt/delete.
Has anyone responded to your problem.

btw, I've also been told that you can't just isolate IE,
delete it and then re-intall. If you want to reload IE,
you would need to re-install MS Office. Try running the
Adware first before you do anything more drastic.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
