ie6 versus ie7?

Bruce

Hello,

Been reading some of the problems with ie7. Still using ie6. Stopped the
automatic update for ie7. Wondering if I should wait till I decide to
upgrade to Vista, or is ie7 worth the problems it seems to have right now?
thanks Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Like a fine wine software takes time to mature. It depends upon your
willingness to swallow a small amount of crud as you sip from the first
bottle. Most problems seem to be incompatibility issues with Addons and
drivers that are already installed on computers.
I have had no problems at all, only some misgivings about the interface, but
I expect that development is not over yet and that things will improve with
age, but I have it installed on a new XP Pro laptop, clean and pristine.
But should you choose to give it a go, you can always uninstall it and
revert back to version 6.
Make sure you read the release notes though before you install it.

There are some important covenants.

Well, I just downloaded IE 7 to get the enhanced security it is supposed to
offer. I already do not like it. How do I go back to the old IE 6 version
(the disk that came with the lap top some years ago is 350 miles from me).
Will system restore do it?

No. System restore will not do it. Use the add/remove applet in the control panel to remove it.
Look for "windows internet explorer 7"
Then use the system restore to clean up any loose ends. (If you made a restore point just before
installation)

Thanks Richard. I understand the remove program part. How do I get back to
IE
6?

Uninstalling IE7 from the Control Panel returns IE6.
