IE6 version not correctly detected in Yahoo and other sites

Hi,

I've had IE 6 for quite a while with no problems. My woes started, after
I installed all the latest patches. Now, Yahoo Mail is unable to detect
my browser as being IE 6. Yahoo and other sites that optimize for IE 6
all suddenly alert me that I have version 4. Yeah, right!!

Given that there have been several recent posts on this groups reporting
similar problems, it's time for the Microsoft team to get into action
and find out what is happening and provide some fix or workaround.

I hope this is addressed swiftly, since I have to read my Yahoo mail
from friends' computer. BTW, her's is XP Home edition also running IE6
SP1 with all the same patches as mine, but no problems. I"m running on
Windows 2000 Server.

Dan.

Try this fix.

Some Web Site Services Do Not Work After You Upgrade to Internet Explorer 6
Some Web site services may not work properly after you upgrade to any of the
versions of Internet Explorer listed at the beginning of this article. The
Web site may suggest that you need to enable cookies or upgrade your browser
to one that supports Java, frames, or other technology that is supported by
Internet Explorer 6.
For example, when you attempt to log on to, or use, a secure banking Web
site, you may be prompted to upgrade to a compatible browser or a different
version of the same browser.
