IE6 Stops Responding

IE6 opens to my home page but then if I click on any other webiste it hangs
and eventually I get the "not responding" message. I have scanned for virus
and also for spyware etc. (I have Spybot, Ad-Ware, Win Patrol, McAfee, and
also Free Ram XP pro - which I added after IE stopped responding). I have run
all and everything seems fine. Also, I disabled some add-ons and for one day
IE worked fine. But the next day it started not responding. I checked the
add-ons and they are still diabled. Anything I can do from here before I call
a pro? Any suggestions will help. Thank you.

I have a similar problem. I recently downloaded a microsoft update for
windows sp2 which included the "windows desktop search". i also upgraded my
Norton Internet security 2005 with the antispyware version. Since then I
cannot open IE6 but get a "runtime error" message which states: "This
application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" Any
suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi,
The Google toolbar has been causing this problem recently. Uninstall it from
Control Panel> Add/remove programs. You could try reinstalling it, or you
might wait for an updated version to be released.

Yours is the first post I've seen that mentions Windows Desktop Search. If
you don't have the Google toolbar installed, try disabling WDS.

Hope this helps,
