ie6 slow to load on opening

whenever I open a new window of ie6 (using windows xp) it
hangs (and all other open ie6 windows) for about 15 - 30
seconds before loading the home page or link. afterwards
it works and downloads just fine. I've fun all the
spyware and virus software. any other ideas?
 
I have solved my own problem
In IE6 click on tools / manage add ons
Disable addons except Java until the problem is solved.
You may want to enable them singly until you find the culprit
This worked for me
