IE6 loads very slowly

Purchased new HP media center AMD 4200 X2, 1GB RAM, and MS Media Center with
SP2. When I start IE6, it takes over 30 seconds to load. Every time I click
on a link that opens a new browser window, it again takes over 30 seconds
for the new window to open. Pages that open in the same browser window,
however, load quickly.

I do not have this problem with either the Firefox or Opera browsers or on
another computer running SP1. I have three antispy apps working fulltime,
cleaned out my cache, registry, removed all restore points, and am
virus-free.

Has anyone resolved a similar problem with IE6 or, perhaps, has a clue as to
what the problem is?

Hi Marc,

Most probably its an Add-in. To test this go to your Control Panel and
select Internet Options. On the Advanced tab un-check 'Enable third-party
browser extensions' . Apply and your changes then try opening IE. (I usually
set my home page to about:blank so that it loads the fastest)

If this turns out to be the problem then you can use the Add-In manager
(IE - Tools>Add-in Manager) to selectively disable your add-ins to find and
disable the offending add-in.

Regards.
