Not Really Me
It's time to fix my brothers PC again. XP Home, SP2, P4 1.6GHz with cable
modem. Whenever they start IE the entire machine dies. No KBS led
activity, no cntl-alt-del, nada.
I can ping outside stuff before running IE, so the net connect is ok. Ran
Adaware a few times to clean stuff up. Manually killed some other search
and spyware related stuff from the Run and RunOnce reg entries. Running IE
causes normal IE startup appearance, waiting for the home page to answer.
There seem to be a couple of extra search toolbars visible that I don't
recognize, not google or msn. Within seconds of the white unfilled screen
showing up, the mouse can no longer move the cursor and all else is dead.
I found a KB article that tells about forcing an IE reinstall by changing a
reg entry to show that it isn't currently installed. Any other suggestions
on how to approach this?
