My IE6 stopped loading and I could not reinstall it because
it said I already had a newer version installed, which I
didn't. So, I removed it using the add/remove technique,
and it was still there, so I went in to Microsoft Explorer
and deleted it so I could reinstall it. I can't reinstall
it because it says I still have it, but I don't. My
Quickbooks program quit working because it says I need to
have IE5.5 or higher installed, which I don't, but it says
I still have it, which I don't. The only way I can access
the internet is to use a different browser, which ended up
being Mozilla Foxfire. It works great, but it's not the IE
program I need to use my other software.
Heeeeeelllllllpppppp!!!!!

Hi,

Reinstall it correctly. Go to the Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab, set
it to "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected operating
system files [recommended]". Also uncheck "Hide extensions for known file
types".

Then, open Windows Explorer from Start/All Programs and go to the
C:\Windows\Inf folder. Locate the ie.inf file, right-click it and choose
install.

You may need to either insert your WinXP CD or know where your I386 folder
is located on the hard drive. You may also need to know where the
\ServicePackFiles folder is (usually under the Windows directory).
