IE6 registering takes 4 minutes

HELP!
I had a problem with some sites hijacking my computer. I
deleted all the history and new files that were loaded
onto my hard drive, but still it attacked my PC. I
uninstalled IE6 and reinstalled IE6. Now it takes 4/5
minutes for a connection can be made to the Internet, but
once the connection is made I have no problems at all.
