IE6 only displays title bar when run

Hello,

I have a PC running Windows XP and IE6 with all the
latest updates and patches which is used in a classroom
by several different instructors and has been running
perfectly until today.

When I started Internet Explorer 6 from its desktop icon
today, it took several seconds longer than usual to
start, and then only the Title Bar (showing the name of
my home page and "Microsoft Internet Explorer" and the
minimize/maximize/close buttons) showed up -- there were
no toolbars or browser window below it. I waited a
minute to see if anything would come up, then clicked
the "close" button and closed the browser and tried to
start IE from the Start > Programs menu and the same
thing happened.

I ran a virus scan on my computer with the latest virus
definitions as of this week and nothing showed up.

I asked the last few instructors who used the PC if they
had made any changes or noticed anything strange, and
they all replied no.

I tried removing the Internet Explorer component
using "Add/Remove Windows Components" in the Control
Panel, rebooting, and re-adding the IE component. When I
tried starting IE afterwards, the same thing happened --
only the title bar displays, no toolbars or browser
window beneath.

I tried searching the Microsoft knowledge base, common
newsgroups, and the Internet at large for similar
problems and wasn't able to find anything.

Any help explaining or solving this problem would be
greatly appreciated. I don't want to reinstall Windows
XP and all of the other software except as a last
restort...

I am also having this problem. Re-installing IE6 does not
solve the problem for me. I am hoping that I dont have to
fiddle with the Registry, but if that is the only way to
fix it, I will try it if someone knows exactly what needs
to be done.
