IE6 not loading

HI, I'm currently running IE5 and windows 2000. I've downloaded IE6 a couple
of times and then try to access the internet and get an error.. I checked the
version I'm running after downloading IE6 and it says IE5 ?? Help. Thanx

And the complete error message would be...?

Did you upgrade to IE6 SP1 via Windows Update? Have you rebooted?

Is the machine otherwise fully up-to-date at Windows Update (e.g., Win2K SP4
and Win2K SP4 Rollup 1 are both installed)?

Dear PA Bear,
Well, I don't know about "lakefrontlvn", but here's my situation. I'm
running WIN ME. I recently had to reload it, and when I did, I lost my IE6.
Now stuck with IE 5.5. I have tried, numerous times, to update from Windows
Upadate and any other place I can find, both online and off, and contiually
get the same message,"Setup was unable to install all the components. Please
close all applications and try running setup again." Well, duh. NOTHING is
running but 'Explorer', 'Systray' and 'Setup', and it always stops at about
73%, and up pops that damned message again...and yes, of course, I have
rebootAnd when I do, up pops another window asking if I want to resume setup
or start over if it has failed more than once. Well, I've tried both ways,
many times, all with the same results. Any ideas?
